About

I am a recent graduate at the University of Waterloo with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Honours English: Rhetoric Media and Professional Communication (RMPC), with a second focus on digital arts. My passions are in storytelling and digital media where I learned how to work a computer at a very young age. I taught myself how to use an editing software to manipulate images into mediocre collages (Picnik and Fotoflexer used to be my go-to websites). I laugh whenever I stumble upon those collages and realize how far I have improved my technical skills. My childhood certainly shaped what I want to achieve as a career in the creative industry and it's to write, create, and bring representation into the stories I tell because that's what I admired in the films and tv shows I grew up watching. Representation matters especially if it can aspire future storytellers and give minorities a voice. I want to write, create, and produce things that not only has meaning and a purpose, but gives people meaning and inspiration. I want to bring representation into these stories where one day I hope a viewer can see themselves within the characters I create. Now I spend most of free time editing photos/videos, creating different layouts for my blog (I have yet to last with the same design layout for more than six months), recording lifestyle videos for my YouTube channel (a part-time hobby), and planning creative projects to do with my friends. Like everything else in life, I still have so much more to learn and skills to improve to become a better storyteller and digital content creator.

In addition, I conducted two interviews with Faculty members to highlight their accomplishments and achievements within their role as an academic, researcher and member of the Faculty of Arts. At the end of the term, alongside a colleague, I designed and developed a presentation as part of the ACO lunch session. For the presentation I did a live demonstration on a topic related to technology, specifically, on the topic of social media: how I use it for my digital portfolio, how I stay connected with the uWaterloo community, and how staff can use social media to their advantage.
