Hi, I’m Kaylhan Garcia — a first-generation Mexican-American and current Cybersecurity Master’s student at NYU, building on a foundation in data science and analytics. My experience spans government, nonprofit, and startup sectors, where I’ve built data pipelines, developed ML models for anomaly detection, and led behavioral analytics for 44,000+ users at a gaming company. I’ve briefed C-suite executives, engineered privacy-preserving workflows, and conducted hands-on network protocol analysis using Wireshark and Python socket programming. At NYU, I’m deepening my expertise in computer networking, operating systems, and information security. I bring a data-driven mindset to cybersecurity, focusing on analytics and automation for threat detection. Outside academics, I create content (@kaytravelz) for 10.7k+ TikTok followers and run a blog documenting my journey as a Latina in cybersecurity — blending advocacy, transparency, and playfulness to make tech more inclusive. I’m also active in SHPE NYU as the Public Relations Coordinator, collaborating with peers who share my passion for community and representation. My career goal is to start as a cybersecurity analyst, grow into threat intelligence, and help build secure, scalable systems that protect people and stories.
