In high school, finance first sparked my interest when I took a class called financial literacy taught by Dave Ramsey. Currently, I am an undergraduate freshman, majoring in personal financial planning at Central Michigan University. I am aspiring to be a financial planner for families in the future. I currently have a job in food service, which I’ve had for two years. Working in food service has taught me important problem solving skills. For example, customers will frequently get unhappy and I have learned to solve the problems that they have. I’ve also volunteered for an organization called Ele’s Place, which is a center for grieving children and teens. I’ve helped volunteer for them by greeting people and speaking on behalf of them at their fundraising events. Through doing this, Ele’s place taught me very important communication skills that have helped me since I’ve volunteered. In the future, I would like to help families plan their finances and to help them become more financially stable as a financial planner. My current goal however is a summer internship so I can get more experience in the finance field.
