  During my internship at SKAUST-K, I gained hands-on experience in molecular biology and bioinformatics. I mastered DNA extraction, quantification, and quality assessment using spectrophotometry and gel electrophoresis. I also learned karyotyping techniques, including chromosome preparation and analysis, to study genetic traits in fish species. In bioinformatics, I utilized tools like BLAST, NCBI databases, and software such as BioEdit and MEGA for sequence alignment, phylogenetic analysis, and genome annotation. I analyzed NGS data to explore genetic diversity and population structure, applying Python and R for data visualization. This internship enhanced my technical skills in integrating wet-lab and computational approaches, preparing me for challenges in fisheries genomics and sustainable aquaculture.
