With a diverse background in technology and education, I am a seasoned UX designer with a strong foundation in user-centered design. I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering from Mody Institute of Technology and Science, complemented by certifications in User-Centered Design for AI Applications from Stanford Continuing Studies and a Google UX Design Professional Certificate from Coursera. Currently, I am the Founding UX Designer at Shayr, where I lead the design of a personal financial management app, focusing on user research, competitive analysis, and prototyping. My previous roles include freelance UX design for various projects and a career break dedicated to full-time parenting, during which I discovered my passion for UX design and technology. Earlier in my career, I was a middle school teacher in the US and UK, and a software engineer at NIIT Technologies, where I honed my technical and collaborative skills.

Experience

• Founding UX Designer · Shayr - a pre-seed fintech startup07-01-2023

  - Spearheaded the conceptualization and execution of user-centric designs for a personal financial management app. Collaborated closely with the founder of stealth startup working to establish product market fit, prior to seeking funding and public announcement. -Conducted competitive analysis across 5 leading providers, and extensive user research including 30+ customer interviews and an online survey with 50+ responses. Gathered deep user insights resulting in data-driven design improvements. -Led persona development and customer journey mapping, identifying key pain points and refining designs through prototyping. Focused designs on initial B2C user needs, while ensuring compatibility for future B2B applications. -Conducted multiple rounds of usability testing and led demos with 15+ customers to seek customer validation of the proposed experience. Following UX fit-and-finish, collaborated closely with developers and PM lead during final build of the mobile app. -Designed the website, crafted early marketing splashes, and led recruitment of beta customers as we enter the next exciting phase of our startup journey. -Led cross-functional collaboration across product manager, developers, and GTM lead - as we ideated, prototyped, and iterated on UX designs, ensuring a unified focus on delivering a customer obsessed user experience in the 0 to 1 phase.

  -Co-led design of a website for Tech2Step (Vancouver Woman in Tech community), with a focus on surfacing learning resources, job postings and local meetup opportunities. Conducted 10+ user interviews, developed wireframes and prototypes, and delivered presentation of high fidelity designs to the core committee members. -Conducted user research and developed high fidelity prototypes for 3 hobby projects: Restaurant App (Mobile), Flower Delivery (Responsive Website), and Habits Tracking app targeted towards teenagers (Mobile).

  Became a mom and nurtured the growth of my two boys. Embraced a career-break-turned-tech-adventure, evolving from chief baby-wrangler to UX design enthusiast while raising two little troublemakers. Discovered a passion for tech (AWS Cloud Practitioner Certification) and UX design (Google UXD Professional Certification), proving that even toddler playdates and nap time can be an inspiration for pixel-perfect interfaces.
