About

My interests are related to refugee and migrant resettlement and advocacy with a particular concentration in mental health, counseling, and trauma studies within the migrating communities. My interests beyond migration work extend to topics and work in transitional justice, peace, and reconciliation efforts particularly within the Balkan region. I have participated in organizations that help with refugee resettlement projects within the state of Connecticut and also with human rights advocacy projects. My skills are in community/collaborative organizing, outreach, and social media projects promoting human rights advocacy.

Experience

  I am co-instructing a Global Migration/Refugee Lab (HRTS 349). This course provides an experiential-based introduction to the practical challenges of refugee and immigrant resettlement and integration and to the development of effective policies and implementation strategies to address them.

• Program Manager, Center for Hartford Engagement and Research · Trinity College-Hartford09-01-2023

  In my new role, I will support the Center for Hartford Engagement and Research (CHER) in strengthening mutually beneficial academic and co-curricular partnerships with Hartford. I'll manage CHER communications, data, operations, and events. I look forward to working closely with each team member from the five programs at CHER in order to enhance our connections with Hartford and the community.

• Reaching Back Coach · Hartford Promise10-01-2022 – 09-01-2023

  Coordinated programing for potential Hartford Promise Scholars that will bring awareness of the scholarship, keep them on track to receive the scholarship, aiding them with financial aid, preparing them for college. Established relationships with potential scholars, school administrators and staff as well as Hartford Public School personnel to coordinate the best ways for more Hartford students to receive scholarship.

  Facilitating an after-school program for immigrant high school students in the Hartford area by creating activities and program materials with ESL teachers and local organizations. Fostering an environment in which immigrant youth are successful in the English learning experience and their academic and career goals. Guided them to facilities that will help them solve any problems with immigration paperwork. Advising documented and undocumented immigrant students in academic goals such as college applications, financial aid, career coaching and fostering an environment that will lead them to success in this new country.

  Collaborate with research team to optimize approach to analyzing hate speech targeted at activists in Serbia. Monitor social media activity (e.g. Twitter, Facebook) in Serbia to identify instances of hate speech being mobilized against human rights activists. Evaluate the content of individual posts to identify different forms of hate speech and assess its impact on human rights outcomes.
