About
I'm Joel Porter. Creative Director. Brand Strategist. Designer. Nashville-based, industry-agnostic, and relentlessly hands-on. For over a decade, I've operated at the intersection of strategy and craft, helping brands figure out not just what they look like, but what they mean. I don't separate the thinking from the making. That's the whole point. My background spans nearly every arm of creative marketing: brand identity, campaign design, creative direction, copywriting, apparel design, photography direction, digital marketing, and more. I'm a generalist by design because the brands worth working with don't have simple problems, and they deserve someone who can move fluidly across the full creative spectrum without dropping the thread. You may know some of the names I've helped tell their stories through garments and brand: Hamilton on Broadway, Orville Peck, Death & Co., Van Leeuwen, East Fork, Levain Bakery, Law & Order, Las Vegas, and others. At Dinner Service NY, I've spent the last four years sitting at a rare intersection where culture, fashion, sustainability, and storytelling collide, helping brands bridge the gap between merchandise and meaningful apparel. It's some of the most complex, rewarding creative work I've done. Before that, I was an early hire at Soundstripe, one of Inc. 5000's fastest-growing media companies, where I helped build a visual brand from the ground up as part of an in-house creative team that punched well above its weight. I'm drawn to brands with a point of view, the kind built around a real experience and rooted in something tangible. Outdoor, fashion, apparel, food, music, and sport. If you're building something with a soul and need a creative partner who can lead strategy, execute at a high level, and tell a story worth hearing, that's exactly the work I'm here for. If your brand deserves better than fine, let's talk.

Dinner Service is a sustainable, non-gender, elevated merchandise and apparel brand focused on creating garments centered around innovative collaborations. Dinner Service focuses on sustainability and eradicating plastic-based fabrics and toxic chemicals from the apparel industry by making organic, planet-safe apparel. Each garment is created in partnership/collaboration with a cultural pioneer (artist, musician, restaurant, etc) as part of an exclusive limited-edition capsule or collection. Through these partnerships, and the vehicle of fashion, Dinner Service celebrates expression and promotes sustainability with those who wear its garments. At Dinner Service, I've led and worked alongside a small, agile creative team to cover a range of creative needs that include (but aren't limited to) brand design, brand development, apparel design + direction, fashion photography, video editing, social media management, email + SMS marketing strategy, creative writing, copywriting, and retail design.
