With a Bachelor of Arts in Development Studies from Mount Kenya University, I have cultivated a robust career in community development and research. My journey began as a Student Intern with the Kenya Red Cross, where I engaged over 8,000 community members in health initiatives. Progressing to a Community Development Volunteer, I contributed to the Urban Resilience Project, enhancing local capacities in Nairobi's Mukuru slums. As a Community Development Officer, I furthered these efforts, coordinating activities and facilitating capacity building. My role as a Research Assistant at Christ Is The Answer Ministries involved designing data tools and conducting assessments to address community needs. Most recently, as a Civil Registrar Intern with the Department of Citizen Service, I led advocacy efforts to secure birth certificates for marginalized communities. My experiences reflect a commitment to fostering resilience and development in underserved populations.

  Conducted advocacy communications to enable targeted communities and populations to acquire birth certificates. Led mobilization of the Shona community that resides in Kiambu West Sub County to acquire birth certificates, reaching 1800 individuals. Prepared documentation, reports, and records of weekly activities at the office to support the Kiambu West Office. Coordinated and monitored the status of services delivered weekly, including birth and death certificates issued, number of certificate books used, and number of printing papers used. Offered administrative support to the civil registration office of the Kiambu West sub-county.

  Led the design of data tools and reporting of quantitative findings of the baseline survey. Conducted need assessment and learning assessment to identify community needs in the food basket. Participated in mid-term evaluation to assess the project's impact on the community. Delivered efficient daily assignment schedules to optimize team performance. Gathered and submitted observational information in addition to required data points. Prepared various written communications, reports, and documents.

  Worked on the Urban Resilience Project to build resilience in target communities against socio-economic challenges. Mobilized and sensitized urban informal settlement residents targeted by the project. Coordinated community activities and meetings with other development stakeholders in Mukuru slums. Facilitated capacity building of community-based organizations, volunteer savings and loaning groups, and peer groups through training. Assisted in project management through monitoring and evaluation, work plan reviews, budget management, and preparation of monthly and annual reports. Documented project activities.

  Contributed to the Urban Resilience Project in Mukuru slums, Nairobi. Worked through community structures like youth and women networks to build local group capacity for establishing and strengthening small social enterprises. Represented the project in partner coordination meetings to facilitate networking and strengthen partnerships. • Student Intern, Non-communicable Disease Project · Kenya Red Cross04-01-2017 – 07-01-2017

  Sensitized over 8000 community members and households on strategies to expand access to livelihoods and foster healthy lifestyles. Spearheaded a school health program that initiated vegetable gardens in 20 primary schools, including two with special needs children, to improve access to healthy food and create resources for school health clubs. Supported diabetic/hypertension peer patient groups in establishing socio-enterprises to increase access to screening and treatment services. Contributed to the documentation of project interventions, lessons learned, and best case studies for project learning.
