With a robust background in finance and strategic planning, I have cultivated a career spanning over two decades. I hold a Bachelor of Commerce in Econometrics and Quantitative Economics from the University of Pretoria and a diploma in Mechanics of Project Finance from Middlesex University. My professional journey began at Nedbank Corporate as a Strategy Manager, where I formulated divisional strategies and facilitated the Financial Services Charter. At the Development Bank of Southern Africa, I advanced from Financial Analyst to Executive Coordinator, managing significant infrastructure projects and international finance operations. Currently, as a Senior Strategist at the Industrial Development Corporation, I lead the development and review of corporate plans and strategies.   Developed, reviewed, and approved IDC’s five-year corporate plan and coordinated all internal stakeholders relevant in the review of the corporate plan. Assisted in the communication of the IDC corporate plan and corporate performance and strategies throughout the corporation. Participated in the development and/or review of IDC’s long-term strategy, associated plans, and corporate-wide performance measurement system. Participated and coordinated strategic sessions to inform IDC strategic plans. Assisted Operations Divisions/Units with the development of their sector strategies during the business planning cycle & aligning business plans to corporate objectives. Provided strategic, tactical, and policy information to input into IDC corporate planning and decision-making processes. Monitored the changes in IDCs operating environment and advised the Corporation accordingly. Mentored and coached junior members of the team.

  Dealmaker, transactor, advisor and arranger for infrastructure projects in the energy, oil & gas, transportation, ICT and water sectors across Africa. Expertise includes origination of transactions, financial, credit and risk analysis, financial modelling, creating and presenting new loan proposals to credit committees, structuring of equity and debt funding as well as negotiation of term sheets and agreements. Managed projects including USD$25mn debt financing for airport project, USD$150mn debt financing for Power Utility, USD$100mn debt financing for LNG Plant, ZAR100mn debt financing for private hospital, ZAR4bn debt financing for State Owned Enterprise, USD$100mn debt financing for Port Infrastructure, ZAR150mn debt financing for a Higher education institution.

  Directed and controlled the day-to-day strategic operations of the International Finance Division acting as a lead advisor to the Group Executive overseeing 32 staff and controlling an annual budget between $5- $7mn. Assisted the Executive in monitoring and advising on the Division’s governance, strategic direction, financial performance, and operational risks that may impact operations and providing ‘second opinion’ advice. Selected to participate at the inaugural African BRICS summit alongside Board Members and senior management and appointed as BRICS Banks relationship manager thereafter. Attended the World Economic Forum (WEF) Africa meetings annually with senior management and facilitated the division’s participation, presentations and follow up engagements.

  Initiated and coordinated strategic projects emanating from the CEO’s office. Provided high-level admin support to the CEO’s office which included budget administration, performance management (Balanced Scorecard design and implementation), and evaluation and administration of proposals for the CE’s Social Responsibility Fund. Managed projects including successful application (R800mn) of Round 9 Funding from the Global Fund for HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria (GFATM), Established South Africa’s first Green Fund (R850mn), Designed and supported the programme for the creation of IPP market (IPP programme has to date contributed ~ 5500MW to the energy grid and attracted R190bn in private investment).

  Formulated the divisional 3-year strategy based on business goals and strategic initiatives. Developed and aligned Balanced Scorecards for the Executive team. Worked with department heads and Senior Bankers to review historical activities, trends, and future obligations and ensure alignment to divisional strategies. Appointed Cluster Head, Financial Services Charter and facilitated the implementation of strategies and processes to ensure the achievement of the Cluster and the Group’s Charter objectives.
