With a robust background in both design and technology, I have cultivated a career that bridges the gap between creativity and functionality. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Photography from Grand Valley State University and a Responsive Web Design Certification from freeCodeCamp. My professional journey began as a Visual Designer at Hireology, where I refined the company's marketing design language. Progressing to User Experience Designer, I contributed to the creation of Hireology's product design system and initiated the company's first LGBTQIA+ employee resource group. At SupplyShift, a Sphera company, I was instrumental in transitioning design tools and developing a design system, while also serving on the Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion council. Currently, as a Senior UX Designer at Sphera, I lead design initiatives for customer-facing software solutions. Additionally, I mentor aspiring designers at Designlab, guiding them through course material and offering career insights.

As a product designer at Sphera, I solve problems on the SupplyShift customer-facing software solution alongside my Product Management and Engineering coworkers. An average day for me includes setting design priorities, meeting with PMs and stakeholders for feedback and research, coordinating projects and feedback with design teammates, and tons of time spent in Figma working on designs. Other tools that I use include wireframes, user flows, and journey maps.

As a product design mentor at Designlab, I work with product design students at a one-on-one level to go through course curriculum. I meet regularly with my students once a week via video conference to walk them through course material, go over their recent work to give experienced feedback, and discuss any questions they have about a career as a product designer. In between video meetings, I comment regularly on their submitted work and approve it to move forward or suggest it should go through more iterations.

As a product designer at SupplyShift, I solve problems on SupplyShift's customer-facing software solution alongside my Product Management and Engineering coworkers. My time at SupplyShift has found me mainly focusing on our customer-facing software that helps users track their supply chains. I have also worked on tools implemented by our internal teams, as well as overseeing a transition from Sketch to Figma, during which we began to develop our own design system. For a period of a few months, I was also the sole designer at the company and oversaw design direction, took design questions and feedback for the whole product, and prioritized the most important design work. I am also heavily involved as a member of SupplyShifts Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) council.

As a user experience designer at Hireology, I worked with product managers and engineers to come up with creative, usable solutions to existing user problems in Hireologys software and interface. Daily work included collaborating with other UX designers on joint projects, as well as helping with research initiatives alongside UX researchers. Tools such as Sketch, Figma, user flows, journey maps, competitive research, and wireframing were all used heavily. During my time in the UX department, I focused on simplifying the creation of customer career sites. I also worked on the application experience - the experience of creating applications, and the experience of using those applications to apply for jobs. This work involved meeting with clients for feedback, discussing designs with executive leadership team members, and exchanging design feedback with other designers. Additionally, I worked with another designer and an engineer on the creation of Hireology's product design system. During my time at Hireology in this position, I also started Hireology's first employee resource group for LGBTQIA+ employees and allies. I also participated as a full member of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Council.

During my time working as Hireologys visual designer, I directed and refined Hireologys marketing design language. This included art direction for Hireologys main website, email templates, ebook designs, presentation templates, advertisement designs, event designs, and internal design assets. I collaborated on these projects with other members of the Content Marketing team, including our content strategist and digital marketing manager, as well as members of the executive leadership team. I also worked closely with members of the User Experience department to ensure design consistency across our marketing platform and Hireology's application software.
